Applause to People who Work from Home

So, at the moment I am between full-time jobs. My wonderful, post-law school job was, unfortunately, only a year long contract which ended right in the middle of our current, awful economy. I haven't mentioned it on my blog before because I like to stay upbeat and also hate to complain - as previously I've been very lucky in the employment realm - from my summer jobs during college, to my first real post-college job, to my part-time jobs during law school - they've all been great and they've all come right after one another with no breaks between. Well, except one that was not so great, but we won't mention that as it was only 2 summer months and I've succeeded in blocking it from my mind :)

Anyway, my point is that right now I am working part-time from home on a research project. It has made me realize how utterly hard it is to motivate oneself to work at home when there are good shows on my DVR to watch, laundry to be put away, photos on my camera to upload, fun blogs to read . . . the list goes on and on. Has anyone worked at home full-time before? How did you or do you do it? Now, maybe if my home office looked like this one from Pottery Barn I would have more motivation?

And with bright sun shining in my windows, instead of snow and sleet?

And now I am off to watch some of the shows on my DVR that have been calling to me all day!

I would LOVE to work from home under the same conditions! Esp. the one about warm sun and NO sleety, snowy ickiness!

I work at home when I teach online classes (and that doesn't happen too often!) and it is hard! Plus, everyone assumes that when you are at home you aren't really working so they will ask you for favors..ex. sign for a delivery, pick up at airport..so it is hard to do stuff...that and all the cool stuff on tv! That office is cute.

Hi! I just found your blog and it's so inspiring and lovely! Did you clerk after law school? That's what I'm doing now (graduated in May '08) and I'm dreading when my year will be up because the job market is terrible!
