As I mentioned before, I've been reading American Wife for my book club. Because a lot of people were interested in the book, I thought I'd follow up with a little review of my thoughts now that I've finished it.
I was actually kind of disappointed with the book. I think the author set out to write a sweeping, epic-type novel, but ended up getting bogged down in too many details (for example, a few gross bathroom-related incidents come to mind!). The book begins when the main character is in elementary school and ends when she is just over 60 and the First Lady - definitely a long timespan and I really like how the author divided up each part into the houses where she lived: the last section entitled 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue of course. There were certainly parts that I liked a lot, but it definitely wasn't one of those books that I couldn't put down.
Have you read it? What did you think?
Next month, my friend M invited me to join in her friend's book club. So I'm starting Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier. I'm looking forward to reading a classic that I haven't had the chance to read before.

I loved Rebecca! and afterward, if you haven't already- you can see Hitcock's film Rebecca, which is just as good :)
American Wife is on my list.
I LOVED Rebecca. Great book
I'm currently reading it. I'm still toward the beginning of the book and while it's not what I expected (although I did read Prep), it definitely has me hooked.
Ohh, this sounds good! I want to read it now!
I read Prep, and I didn't really like it all - I was super disappointed. Not sure if I would give Curtis another try.
As for Rebecca, I love love LOVE that book! This woman, I think her name is Susan Hill, wrote a "sequel" which was also really good. We should make watching Rebecca a Boston JCA event :)
We just read this for my bookgroup, and I found it to be an entertaining, quick read (despite the length)
I was amazed that all of the "big" events that happened in Alice's life actually happened to Laura Bush. Some parts required skimming though....
