Today was one of those really busy days . . . I was out of the house at 6:45am, at work until 10, then an hour's drive to New Hampshire for a meeting, back home for dinner, then another meeting about a volunteer opportunity in my community. Needless to say, I am ready to just plunk myself down on the couch and enjoy some tv!
Let's take a look at what's pending on my DVR right now:
Tori & Dean - yes, I can't help but watch! And I have to say they have the cutest kids!
Last night's Lost - can't wait!
3 episodes of V - the jury is still out on this show for me. I just can't figure out if I like it or not.
2 episodes of Desperate Housewives
Shall We Dance with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez. Loved that movie, especially the music!

My Shoe Wish List
Since seeing J Crew Creative Director Jenna Lyons on Oprah last week, I now have some new "must-have" shoes.
Oprah had on these: Julienne Leather Heels in bronzed avocado and they are supposedly super comfortable (well, according to Oprah atleast - which means they will likely be sold out within a week!):

I also love this similar style, Alecia Suede Platform Peeptoes in paris pink. You all know I can't resist pink!!

I am also très jealous of Jenna Lyons' closet, which is actually a whole room, and is filled with rows of perfectly organized shoes, all sorted by color. I had seen a photo of her closet in Domino Magazine, but seeing it on tv you could really realize how huge it is!

In Bloom
One of the things I love most about this time of year is all the gorgeous blooming trees. This is a photo I snapped this weekend of a cherry tree at my parents' house. I wish trees bloomed like this all summer!

p.s. I am long overdue to update my blogroll - if you aren't on it and want to be, please let a comment and let me know. I always love to find new daily reads!

Project Runway: Who will win?
Any Project Runway fans out there? The NY Post has a peak at some of the designers' final collections. This year, 10 contestants presented collections at Bryant Park because the show started airing later than usual this year and thus, that many designers were still "in it," at least as far as we viewers knew at the time. Last week's episode revealed that the three "real" finalists are Mila, Seth Aaron, and Emilio - now the question is, who will win?
Emilio made many beautiful pieces throughout the competition, but the fact that he SO self-confident bothers me a bit. He is always complimenting himself!
I like that Mila designs, for the most part, separates and sportswear. It sets her apart from past Project Runway winners. Although I really don't care for the dress above!
Seth Aaron's designs are not usually my taste, but he has great tailoring skills and I liked that he was always super fast throughout the competition (all the other contestants were always running around claiming they didn't have enough time). I also like that he is exactly the type of person who might not get a big chance to make a living at being a designer without the show - seeing him at home with his wife and kids really drove that point home and the unique opportunity to show must present for him.

Aren't these bags by Jessica Kagan Cushman too funny? They would make the cutest gift for someone who has been lusting after the real thing!

A Hotel with a Sense of Humor?
I stayed at the Hotel Roger Williams during my weekend trip to New York City. My mother and I checked into our usual corner room Saturday around noon and found this post-it note on the bathroom mirror:
Apparently "Roger" wanted to buy us a drink in the hotel bar that night. How cute is that? I love a hotel with a sense of humor, don't you?! Definitely a quirky marketing plan and a fun way to give guests a little something extra.
And that's it for tonight . . . just a very short post as American Idol and Glee (not to mention Lost) are all calling me!

Shopped til I dropped!
I had a lovely and exhausting weekend in New York City! The weather was beautiful and we crisscrossed the city to visit our favorite stores and neighborhoods. After a busy day at work today I am too tired to write a full recap, but I do want to share what I found at J Crew. The one in Rockefeller Center had a good-size sale section and luckily was open until 8pm on Saturday, so I was able to stop in just before they closed. This was the second time I've been to that particular J Crew and both times I was very impressed with the sale section - they had lots of marked-down styles in many sizes rather than just a few sad-looking items in random sizes. All too often I spot a gorgeous skirt or top on the sale rack only to see that there is only one and it is not remotely near my size!
This watercolor pencil skirt was on sale (I just posted about all of J Crew's pretty new skirts last week, so I was happy to find one style marked down already!)
Although I surely will not be pairing it with the dull green shirt shown but rather a pink or chocolate brown cardigan. I also bought a cute jersey knit dress with a ruffle collar and 3/4 sleeves that I can't seem to find a pic of online.
I will share some photos from the weekend later in the week. In the meantime, I am off to relax and hopefully catch up on some tv and blog reading.
I hope you all had a great start to your week today!

Shop til we drop!
Tomorrow morning I'll be up early to head to New York City for a quick weekend shopping trip with my mother! Hopefully we'll arrive in the city by noon and then shop, shop, shop . . . then we'll head home around 4/5pm on Sunday.
I'll be getting materials to make more of these:

And my mom will be looking for things to make more of these (and yes, we know it's not winter - we're planning ahead for the fall craft fair season and the launch of own website!):
A lot of things can be found online, but I find that nothing beats shopping in person. A yarn color that can look gorgeous online can look terrible in person. And one of the stores in which I buy my headband supplies has a good website, but has SO much more in the store.
Here's a look at our shopping itinerary.
Saturday
- Garment district/Herald Square area for headband materials, beads, buttons, trims, and bargain jewelry
- Upper East Side for the J Crew Collection, Lilly Pulitzer, and to see Platinum Jewels in Bloom, a flower show in the Madison Avenue jewelry store windows to benefit the Central Park Conservancy.
- 5th Avenue for Henri Bendel, Saks, and the stores around Rockefeller Center
Sunday
- We'll start around SoHo Chinatown and work our way north, searching for bargains, stopping into a new yarn store, being nosy and taking a peak at NYC Housewife Jill Zarin's fabric store, visiting a denim sample sale, checking out the Hayden Harnett pop-up sale.
I think we are literally going to shop 'til we drop!! Full recap on Monday and Twitter updates over the weekend :)

Dear J Crew
Oh J Crew you had me quite nervous for a while, all those drip-drabby tees in blah whites and khakis . . . but today you reminded me why I love you.
Sunshine peony pencil skirt
Lavender!
Watercolor garden pencil skirt
Yellow!
Merino ethereal ruffle cardigan
Papaya!
Strapless chambray wild rose dress
Color is back at J Crew!! And some great sale items too. I stopped in quickly before a hair appointment today and picked up two leather belts in black and gold for a mere $10 each.

The Easter Bunny
The "Easter Bunny" knows me all too well - no basket of candy for me (seriously, I'm not a big candy eater, one Reeses Peanut Butter Easter Egg and I'm set for the Easter season!), but this instead:
This great gloss comes out of the tube clear and reacts to your lips to turn into the perfect pink color (no lies - it really works!). It also has a great shine and doesn't get that icky sticky feeling that some glosses get after they've been on for a while.
Did the Easter Bunny bring you anything fun?

Happy Easter!
(To those of you celebrating today:) Very happy Easter Wishes to you! Whether you are attending church, having a big family brunch, eating dinner with friends, attending an Easter egg hunt, or attending the Red Sox game (lucky you!), enjoy the day!
(Pottery Barn ceramic bunnies, on sale for $19.99 each. These would be cute out on a patio year-round, not just for Easter.)

Happy Friday!
I have much to look forward to this Easter weekend:
(1) Beautiful sunshine today. I'm wearing my new Christian Siriano for Payless peeptoe flats with a fresh pedicure.
(2) Beautiful weather again tomorrow! Hopefully I can sit outside in the sun and plan my shopping itinerary for my trip to NYC next weekend.
(3) Easter Sunday with family. I'll be seeing my cousin and her little girls (fun Easter baskets - well actually, Easter sandbuckets - are all ready for them filled with goodies). And my parents and I will enjoy Easter dinner at Legal Seafood in Boston.
(4) Red Sox Opening "Night" against the Yankees!! I may not be so lucky as to have tickets to this Sunday's season opener, but I did sit in front of my computer on ticket sale days in the winter to get tickets to a whole bunch of games throughout the season! I can't wait!
