Before I start this post, I have to make clear that
I do not need any more books . . . in fact, I am hoping to receive a Kindle or Nook for Christmas and thus
really should only read the books I already have . . . . However, these are the books I'd love to run on over to Borders or Barnes & Noble and pick up tomorrow!
Writing Jane Austen by Elizabeth Aston. I love this author's spin-off novels of the characters in
Pride and Prejudice so I am sure to enjoy this modern novel about a writer asked to finish a newly discovered, incomplete Austen manuscript.
Beautiful People by Wendy Holden. Ms. Holden is a hilarious British author that gives Sophie Kinsella a run for her money. Pure fluff generally, but also pure fun.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. I keep hearing great things about this, so I have to try it.

In the Dark Streets Shineth: a 1941 Christmas Eve Story by David McCullough. This book centers around the 1941 Christmas Eve address given by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill at the White House.
As Always, Julia: The Letters of Julia Child & Avis DeVoto. I love all things Julia and I remember reading about her letters to her "penpal" Avis in
My Life in France.
At Home, A Short History of Private Life by Bill Bryson. I read a review of this book in the
NY Times book review and it sounds really interesting, as it focuses on little tidbits of history of home life--basically, the author wanders around his home talking about the history of things like buttons, pillows, vitamins, and ice. This sounds like the perfect book to keep on your coffee table or bedside table and read a bit when the mood strikes.
